Policy Taskforce – Roundup Newsletter – Vol. 4


The Pan-African Policy Taskforce had the fourth session on October 3rd, 2023, focused on leveraging regional ties.
Following a dynamic Pan-African policy taskforce session on utilizing regional connections for business growth, this latest session focused on bringing together representatives from African startups and accelerators to discuss the future of regional collaboration and economic growth and explore how ecosystem actors can continue to leverage regional collaboration to grow Africa’s entrepreneurship ecosystems.

The Pan-African Policy Taskforce had the third session on 20 June, 2023 and was focused on the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of startup and entrepreneurship legislation. The Taskforce welcomed Joseph Maliki from Malawi’s Department of Economic Planning and Ndeye Diop from Senegal’s Digital Ministry. Both provided insights into their experience implementing, measuring and evaluating legislation in their respective countries.

Monitoring the Impact and Success of Startup Acts in Africa – By Blaise Bayuo and Chizi Gakuo

The Pan-African Policy Taskforce had the second session on 11 April, 2023 and was focused on Innovative Financing. The Taskforce welcomed Alaya Bettaieb Director General of Smart Capital, Tunisia. Alaya presented on the process of Tunisia developing a government fund of funds.

The Pan-African Policy Taskforce was officially launched on 13 December 2022. We welcomed over 45 members, hailing from all corners of the globe with one goal of championing Africa’s startup revolution.

The Taskforce is a peer-to-peer learning platform. As a member, you will meet peers experienced with developing and implementing entrepreneurship, startup or innovation policies. You will be able to leverage the expertise of other participants and can expect to learn about - and share - key lessons, challenges and factors of success in implementing different aspects of entrepreneurship, startup or innovation policies. There is no membership fee or requirement, but the platform is geared towards policymakers, civil society organisations, donor institutions and ecosystems players.
